Ron Sayer Jr
February 25, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
It’s all set to be a night full of energy at The Meeting Room Elland on 25 February when Ron Sayer Jr and Charlotte Joyce make their debut appearance at our unique venue.
They say that Ron Sayer Jr. is the consummate ‘Guitarist’s guitarist’. As a trained music teacher having influenced the learning curves of the likes of Oli Brown, Sol Philcox, The Sharps & Mark Howes of Dove and Boweevil, he’s now a mainstay on the UK blues circuit.
He’s been nominated for no less than four awards in the British Blues Awards in both album and guitarist categories, was voted Guitarist Of The Year by Guitarist Magazine, 4th Best Bassist in Blues Matters Magazine and has worked with/supported Buddy Guy, John Mayall, Matt Schofield, Nine Below Zero, Ten Years After and Robin Trower among others.
He’s joined by award winning Charlotte Joyce who has been his ‘right hand man’ for some time in the Ron Sayer Band. A professional singer for all her working life, Charlotte is vocal coach to many other professional singers, has won awards for her songwriting and was inaugural winner of the Acoustic Guitarist Of The Year in Guitarist Magazine.
Charlotte has worked with/supported the likes of Paul Jones, Dr. Feelgood, Clem Curtis, Jo Harman & Joanne Shaw Taylor.
Ron and Charlotte will be supported by the fabulous Lucy Zirins, who has been gigging since she was just 16. Lucy has received a number of accolades including being picked by the PRS for her promise as a young UK songwriter. She was a UK Country Radio songwriter finalist and has been nominated for the British Blues Awards in various categories both as a songwriter and artist for the past 4 years, winning in 2013.
Her first album “Chasing Clocks” debuted to great press reviews and airplay from national BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6, with respected Maverick Magazine saying: “There are not too many debut albums as promising as this” (4 stars) and R2 Magazine praising the album for it’s “modern folk-tinged country” sound and Lucy’s vocal delivery.
So look forward to a powerhouse of blues good enough to rock your socks off!
Support From Lucy Zirins
Support for the evening is London based singer-songwriter Lucy Zirins hails who from the small town of Burnley, Lancashire. With visits to Italy and France under her belt by the time she was 18 years old, Lucy began gigging solo at just 16. She picked up the guitar aged 12 after inheriting one from her late Uncle and began songwriting early on. Strong flavours of roots: country, blues and folk run throughout Lucy’s music but the sound is all her own.
